As the Digital Marketing Manager at Glemnet, and a mum of 3 young children, being able to work flexibly and one day a week from home is a godsend. So when I read this article by Nathalie Turton it made me feel sad that so many businesses haven’t yet caught on to the concept of flexible working = happy, fulfilled employee = increased productivity. Sure, there are of course days when you need to be in the office and face-to-face interactions are more appropriate, but what’s great about Unified Communications, such as our new GiNiEX Cloud Communications solution, is knowing that I can work from home, or elsewhere, and yet still be connected to everyone else.
I can use our GiNiEX Connect mobile app (that provides super simple chat and calling), so I can stay in touch while away from my desk. GiNiEX Communicator lets me quickly find colleagues, start a voice or video call, share files and screens, and even seamlessly moves my call to another device- perfect for moving around rooms within my home depending on which space I want to work in at any given time. GiNiEX Meet makes meetings so much easier, and means you don’t have to necessarily trek into the office and endure the train/tube just for one catch up. By using the app I can join and message meetings with the tap of a button.
Smart employers are starting to cotton on the benefits of flexible working, and retaining the best, most productive and happy employees post-kids (I work a mixture of in the office, at home during school hours, and then carry on working for a chunk of time in the evening). Becoming a parent doesn’t mean that a person’s career is over, but by giving them the opportunity to work some of the hours that suit them, and avoid valuable commuting time on occasion, businesses can follow in family-friendly Scandinavian countries footsteps.
You just need the right tools to make it work, and Cloud Communications solutions like GiNiEX are leading the way.
