From 15 June 2017, a new mobile legislation will come into play that will affect how mobile users, including our customers, will use and be billed for their usage whilst abroad in Europe.
Roam Like At Home (RLAH) – what exactly is it?
In simple terms it means there will be no surcharges or increased rates for users when roaming in the EU (hurrah!). Providers must ensure that those purchasing bundles have sufficient allowances in the EU should they require them.
What does this mean for Glemnet?
This new ruling will mean that networks and service providers, such as ourselves, need to ensure that customers are able to use their devices in other countries within the EU, based on rates and rules almost identical to that which they receive on their home network.
Glemnet’s mobile team is undertaking a full review of all live products including tariffs, bolt-ons and services. Almost all tariffs and some bolt-ons will require modification to enable UK users’ allowances to work abroad. Others, such as EU-specific bolt-ons, may need to be completely retired.
When will we announce and implement these changes?
We are working hard on this extremely important project to ensure all changes are in line with legislation. We will be sending further communications shortly about the changes that you can expect to your services. We aim to have these changes come into effect on 1 June 2017, ahead of 15 June 2017 deadline.
If you’re unsure about any of these changes, and whether or not they will affect you, please contact your Glemnet Mobile account manager on their direct dial, or on 0208 639 0230, to discuss further.
